Latest Updates: October 2021
1) Club Night - 4th Oct 2021

We are pleased to announce that club night is on again this month (Monday 4th Oct 2021) from 7:20pm to 10pm.

For those new to club night, we run it on the first Monday of every month from 7:20pm onwards. For club night, we have all four courts booked out and players of various standards play each other in 15-minute time slots before rotating over.

This is a great way to meet players of similar standards and to establish playing contacts of the club, especially if you are a new member.

Club night is free of charge and is also open to non-members and guests as well 🙂

2) Court Maintenance - 5th Oct 2021

Court Masters will be coming on Tuesday the 5th of October 2021 to repair the courts that have acquired damage due to wear and tear. Please note that courts 1 and 2 will be unavailable for use until Wednesday the 6th of October 2021. We apologise for the inconvenience.

3) World Squash Day - 9th Oct 2021

The club will be hosting a free open day on Saturday the 9th of October 2021 as part of World Squash Day, for members and non-members to come along and try out squash and racketball free of charge.

There will be various sessions going on throughout the day from 11 am onwards as well as a barbeque at lunchtime. The bar will also be open all day as well. The schedule for the day is on the poster above so if you have friends and family who are interested in giving squash/racketball a try, please feel free to forward this to anyone who may be interested 🙂

The coaching sessions will be run by coaches, Tom May and Josh Cutting. Hope to see you all there!

4) The Oktoberfest Cup 2021 - 16th Oct 2021

Entries for The Oktoberfest Cup opened on Saturday the 20th of September 2021. With this being the first event at the club in 20 months, there was a lot of excitement in the build-up to the opening of entries! so much that when the process went live, the demand overloaded and crashed the server!! After a few restarts, we were back online and we sold out in 7 minutes and 57 seconds to retain the tournament’s proud record of selling out in under ten minutes. The event, despite not featuring for nearly 2 years, remains the most popular and fastest-selling graded tournament in the UK.

Thank you to all club members that entered and although we are full, we have reserve lists in operation as players do tend to drop out due to injuries etc so if you’d like to be added on the reserve lists for one of the grades, please enter online at: www.cmstringers.com/entry

5) Club Leagues

The club leagues are well and truly underway and thank you to those that have entered and to those that have been entering their results onto the online leagues on SquashLevels. We are now up to 16 leagues so are moving in the right direction 🙂

Just to remind those in the leagues, that this month’s session ends on the 31st of October 2021 at 9pm and if you would like to drop out of the leagues for October, please let me know. Current leagues can be viewed online at: https://squashlevels.com/boxes.php?clubid=188

Additionally, if you would like to be added to the October 2021 leagues, please either indicate this on the form in the club leagues printed out at the club or you can register your participation online at: www.csquash.org/club-leagues

6) Team Squash - Winter 2021/22

The South East Kent League is due to resume on the week commencing the 25th of October 2021. The club normally fields four teams in Divisions 1 to 3, for players between 1000 – 9000 on the SquashLevels system (although a new division 4 is being proposed for players between 200-999 on SquashLevels to be able to compete against other clubs against players of a similar standard so watch this space!)

If you would like to be considered for one of the teams, please contact me (Joe Magor) on 07909 531367 or joe@cmstringers.com

7) The Fines Cup VII - Pandemic - Graded Tournament

The club will be hosting The Fines Cup VII – Pandemic Graded tournament on Saturday the 4th of December 2021.

The event is the second fastest-selling tournament (behind the Oktoberfest Cup!) in the country and has frequently sold out in under 10 minutes with players from all over the UK traveling to take part in it. This year’s event will be based on a pandemic theme and there will be plenty of things going on throughout the day and evening for this year’s edition 🙂

Entries for this event open on Monday the 8th of November 2021 at 10pm sharp. It is highly advisable for those that wish to take part to enter at 10pm as soon as entries open as the last edition of this event sold out in 9 minutes! I am also keen to ensure all club members who wish to take part get into the event!

There is a WhatsApp Group for live updates in the build-up to entries opening so if you would like to be kept in the loop to ensure you are in the best position to get in, you can join the group via the link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/EaGHNsypWn41pasMl5RWVm

For those who haven’t played before, these graded events are a great way to pit yourselves against players of similar standard in a competitive environment as well as being able to play a variety of different players 🙂 All the events also count towards your SquashLevels profile so they are also a good way to improve your SL score as well!

Tournaments are typically held over a Saturday (all day) or some are Saturday and Sunday depending on the tournament format.

For more information on the events I am currently running this year, please visit: www.cmstringers.com/entry
